Plush Velvet Cow

If you love a toy you can sink your fingers into, this is the one. Robyn of Rose and Lily Amigurumi designed this huggable little cow in soft chenille yarn, with a sweet heart shaped patch on the belly and floppy ears that beg to be squished. The sample shown is worked in soft blue and white, but the two color design means you can make a classic black and white cow, a pink strawberry cow, or any combo you dream up.

It uses Hobbii Baby Snuggle velvet yarn and a 4.25 mm hook, with 12 to 15 mm safety eyes for that glossy gaze. Robyn also links a full video tutorial, so the assembly never leaves you guessing.

Giant Cow Squish

This is the cuddle pile cow of your dreams. Tamara Kelly of Moogly sized this one up into a big round squish that measures about 10 inches across, all soft cheeks and a chubby pink nose. It is the kind of make that ends up living on a bed or in a reading nook and getting hugged constantly.

It works up fast in Bernat Blanket super bulky yarn on an 8 mm hook, and the cow markings are made with tapestry crochet so you carry your colors as you go. You will want both 24 mm and 14 mm safety eyes for that big eyed look.

Quick Little Minis

When you want a fast, satisfying finish or a tiny handmade gift, these small cows deliver. Both are perfect for using up scrap yarn and building your amigurumi confidence.

Mia Moo Moo

Ashley of A Crafty Concept calls this the easiest cow amigurumi ever, and it really is a lovely first project. Mia has a classic black and white spotted body, a soft pink muzzle, and little folded ears, with patches made in organic, irregular shapes so no two cows look quite the same.

She is made with We Crochet Brava worsted yarn and a 3.75 mm hook, with 12 mm safety eyes. The build reuses A Crafty Concept's Ava Bunny body, so the shaping is well tested and genuinely beginner friendly.

Tiny Sitting Cow

Need a quick win or a pocket sized gift? This little cow from Supergurumi sits in the palm of your hand at around 5 cm tall, with stubby tan legs, small black ears, and a sweet pink nose. It is the perfect scrap yarn project for when you want something finished in an afternoon.

It uses Schachenmayr Catania cotton with a 2.5 mm hook and small 6 mm safety eyes. The head and body are worked as one piece, so there is less sewing than you would expect for something this detailed.

Sweet & Detailed

If you are ready to slow down and savor the little touches, these two reward the effort. Think embroidered sleepy eyes, tiny outfits, and charming farmyard details.

Bella the Cow

Bella has the sweetest sleepy face of the bunch. Elisa Sartori of Elisa's Crochet gave her embroidered eyes with little lashes, a bright pink muzzle, and all the charming farmyard details, including an udder and a tiny cowbell collar. She sits up on her own, which makes her a lovely shelf sitter.

The pattern works in smooth cotton yarn with a 3.5 mm hook, plus a 2.75 mm hook for the smaller pieces, and that silky yarn really shows off the stitch definition. It is rated beginner to intermediate, so it is a nice next step once you have a cow or two under your belt.

Zoya the Dressed Cow

Zoya is the heirloom of the group. Designed by Victoria Rusak of Yammi Art, she is a sleepy eyed cow doll in a little dress with a ruffled collar and a lace trimmed hem. Her closed, embroidered eyes give her such a calm, dreamy expression that she feels more like a keepsake than a toy.

She stands about 11 cm without her horns and is worked in Gazzal Baby Cotton on a tiny 2.2 mm hook, so this one rewards a bit of patience. The dress is part of the pattern, collar and trim included, and the face is embroidered rather than using safety eyes.
